Prism Launcher Privacy Policy

Prism Launcher Privacy Policy

Prism Launcher (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a home screen replacement app for Android. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains exactly what data we access, why we access it and most importantly, what we do not collect or share.

Last updated: May 2026

  1. Data We Do Not Collect
Prism Launcher does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. There are no analytics SDKs, crash reporters, or advertising frameworks included in this app. No account is required and no data is sent to any server operated by us.
  2. Permissions Used — and Why
The following Android permissions are requested. All processing happens on-device only.
    • READ_CALENDAR — used to display your upcoming calendar events on the home screen widget. Calendar data is read locally and never leaves your device.
    • USE_BIOMETRIC / USE_FINGERPRINT — used to authenticate access to locked apps and the Secret Workspace. Biometric data is processed entirely by the Android system; Prism Launcher never sees or stores it.
    • INTERNET — used to fetch RSS news articles on the Feeds page and to retrieve app information from the Google Play Store when you search. No personal data is included in these requests.
    • READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / READ_MEDIA_IMAGES — used to apply custom wallpapers and load custom icon packs you select.
    • QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES — required for a launcher to display and organise the apps installed on your device. The app list stays on-device.
    • BIND_NOTIFICATION_LISTENER_SERVICE — used to display notification dot counts on app icons. Notification content is never read or stored.
    • APPWIDGET_HOST — used to display home screen widgets provided by other apps.
    • RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED — used to restore launcher state after a device restart.
  3. Local Storage
All configuration — your icon layout, theme preferences, dock items, secret workspace settings, and folder structure — is stored in a local SQLite database on your device using Android Room. This data is included in Android’s standard backup if you have device backups enabled in your Google account settings.
  4. Third-Party Services
When the Feeds page is active, the app fetches publicly available RSS articles from the sources you select. These are standard HTTP requests to public RSS endpoints; no user identifiers are attached.
When you use Universal Search and Play Store results are enabled, the app performs a search query against the Google Play Store website. This is subject to Google’s own privacy policy (policies.google.com). No account credentials or personal tokens are transmitted.
  5. In-App Purchases
Premium feature purchases are handled entirely by Google Play Billing. Prism Launcher does not process, store, or have access to your payment information. Purchase receipts are verified through the Play Billing API only.
  6. Children’s Privacy
Prism Launcher does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Given that no data is collected from any user, this app is appropriate for all ages.
  7. Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, the revised version will be published within the app and reflected in the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the new policy.

Summary for a Privacy Policy Document:
“Prism Launcher accesses your list of installed apps, calendar events, and notifications to provide a personalized home screen experience. This data is primarily used locally on your device. We use Google Play Billing for premium features. We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the application.”
Note: If you are planning to publish this on the Play Store, you will need a formal URL hosting a detailed policy that specifically mentions these permissions (especially QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES and NotificationListenerService) to comply with Google’s Developer Program Policies.
